The concern about privacy is real, though it may be being blown out of proportion. Intel has not dealt directly with the problem and seems intent on maintaining it's position that the chip can be disabled sufficiently with the software they provide. As of yet, they have not addressed the concerns that another program could re-activate the system and, or, it is completely disabled by their software.
