This paper looks at the various ideas and then compares data taken form the hotel industries in Sydney and Salt Lake City to assess the short and long term impacts. Both indicate an increases in demand in the years leading up to the games and fall in demand and income in the years after the games but the levels of gain and loss are very divergent.
